Food safety

After an internal peer review, the USDA-ARS approved a collaboration with SnapDNA to develop a preferred, next-generation platform for food safety testing.  The company has established a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with the USDA-ARS to develop rapid, highly specific, foodborne pathogens tests for Salmonella enterica, Listeria spp., Shiga toxin-producing E. coli, Campylobacter spp., human noroviruses and hepatitis A virus.

DNA testing is the fastest growing segment of the more than 1 Billion food safety tests per year.  The number of food safety tests are expected to increase significantly due to new industry-sponsored legislation requiring stricter controls and, starting next year, pathogen testing of all imported food.  SnapDNA is uniquely positioned to deliver the fastest and most accurate food pathogen tests and become the leading solution for food safety testing.
